The Historic Thames

This ancient river has been the setting for many battles, either on its bridges and banks or in its adjacent towns and villages. There are so many famous and historic happenings we could not cover them all, but on board we have a selection of books on the subject if you would like to do some research.

~ First the gory ~
Ducking and drownings, ghosts and ghouls, murders and massacres, hauntings and hangings, batterings and beheadings…………….

~ Then the beautiful ~
Palaces and castles, gardens and galleries, museums and monasteries.

~ Don’t forget the cities ~
Oxford and London, hundreds of shops, buses with open tops, the lights the sights, the razzle and dazzle…

~ Then the peace and quiet ~
The glorious Thames with fish and birdsong, otters and owls, the breathtaking flash of a kingfisher, the prehistoric stance of a fishing heron and the majestic Royal swans,

This beautiful river has it all.
